Why rent a car in Skiathos?
Skiathos is the most popular island in the Sporades, renowned for its pine-fringed beaches, crystal clear waters and lively atmosphere. Although the island is relatively small, a rental car gives you easy access to the quieter beaches away from the main road, the historic Kastro settlement in the north and the scenic interior that most visitors never discover. The famous Lalaria beach, accessible only by boat, makes an excellent excursion from a base on the island.
Pick up your car directly at Skiathos Harbor and start exploring the island immediately after arrival. For more destinations across the islands, see car rental in the Sporades.

Routes and highlights across Skiathos
Skiathos is the most visited of the Sporades islands and is known for its pine-fringed beaches and vibrant summer atmosphere. The island is compact and the main road runs from the town westward along the southern coast, passing a succession of beaches within easy reach by car. Koukounaries, consistently rated among the best beaches in Greece with its fine white sand and backed by a lagoon, is approximately 12 km west of Skiathos Town. Lalaria, a dramatic beach of white marble pebbles accessible only by boat from the town, is on the northern coast. The Kastro, an abandoned medieval fortress perched on a rocky northern headland, is reachable by a rough track from the main road followed by a short walk, approximately 10 km from the town. The road along the northern coast from Troulos toward Agia Eleni and Krassa offers quieter alternatives to the busy southern beach strip.
