Car rental at Fez Airport (FEZ)
Fez Airport (FEZ), also known as Fès–Saïs Airport, is a key gateway to northern Morocco. Renting a car directly at the airport is the most convenient way to start your journey and explore the region at your own pace.
With a rental car from Fez Airport, you can easily reach the city of Fez, as well as destinations such as Meknes, Volubilis, and the Middle Atlas Mountains. Having your own car gives you the flexibility to discover historic sites, mountain landscapes, and traditional towns that are not easily accessible by public transport.
MarSoleil offers car rental at Fez Airport without a credit card, including full insurance and zero excess. This means no hidden costs, no large deposit, and a smooth, hassle-free pickup right after arrival.
Picking up your rental car at Fez Airport
About Fez Airport (FEZ)
Fez-Saiss Airport (IATA: FEZ) is located approximately 15 km south of Fez city centre, near the town of Saiss. It handles direct routes from several European cities, particularly from France, Spain, and the Netherlands, as well as domestic connections within Morocco. The terminal is a single modern building and straightforward to navigate. Car rental desks are in the arrivals area with vehicle collection in the car park in front of the terminal. Fez is Morocco’s cultural and spiritual capital and the medina of Fez el-Bali is a UNESCO World Heritage site; a rental car is invaluable for exploring the wider region beyond the city.
Getting on the road from Fez Airport
From the airport, Fez city centre is approximately 15 km north via the N8 road, around 20 minutes. Meknes, Morocco’s other imperial city with its massive Bab Mansour gate and Roman ruins at Volubilis nearby, is about 60 km west on the A2 motorway, reachable in around 45 minutes. Volubilis itself is approximately 75 km from the airport. Ifrane, the French-built mountain resort town nicknamed the Switzerland of Morocco, is about 65 km south in the Middle Atlas. The cedar forests around Azrou and the Barbary macaques that inhabit them are approximately 85 km south. Taza and the route east toward the Sahara desert begin approximately 120 km east of Fez.
Why pick up at the airport rather than in the city
Fez medina itself is car-free and best explored on foot; the narrow alleys of the old city are inaccessible by vehicle. A rental car is useful for reaching the wider region: Meknes, Volubilis, the Middle Atlas mountains, and the route south toward Erfoud and the Sahara dunes are all within reach of Fez but impractical without a car. Picking up at the airport and driving directly to your riad in the ville nouvelle avoids the complexity of finding transport from the city.
